Summer Camps at the Evergreen Museum Campus

Summer is right around the corner (even though the weather doesn’t feel like it!)  and the Evergreen Museum Campus is offering numerous educational camps to keep your kids engaged all while having fun! Where else can you explore outer space, learn about airplanes, film a movie and learn all about water? Evergreen Museum Campus, of course!

The Museum offers multi-day camps as well as Fun Friday Day Camps.  2013 Summer Camps

Multi-Day Camps: 3 -4  day camps for grades 5th – 8th

Model Rocket Camp: June 26th-28th 2013 from 9am-4pm
Students will have total immersion into the rocket hobby. Three projects will be built and flown by the campers. First a simple E2X series rocket on day one, next a B engine variant from a skill level 2 Estes or similar manufacturer’s kit. Last is a team rocket using only parts designed and engineered by the student team. The rocket must perform within set guidelines and function flawlessly. Students will keep the two rockets built as an individual.

TV Production Camp July 8-12 from 9 am-4 pm
Students will learn how to direct a multi-camera, live-to-tape episode of the interview program ‘Full Circle’, as well as function in all crew and talent capacities. The final project will be a short format production, determined by the group’s creativity. On the last day of camp, the final production will be premiered in our large format Evergreen Theater for students and parents to enjoy.

R/C Camp: July 24th-26th 2013 from 9am-4pm
Do everything, from learning how the remote control system works, to designing your own model remote controlled aircraft. End the week with handling the controls on a real remote control aircraft!

Lego Robotics Camp: August 7th-9th 2013 from 9am-4pm
Students will learn to build and program Lego Mindstorm robots. Friday afternoon a competition will be held with the class robots and adults are encouraged to attend.

 

Fun Friday Camps: Single day camps for elementary age kids 1st-4th grades.

Aviation Day: June 21st from 9am – 3pm
All things that fly will be discussed. Campers will build a variety of fun flying machines and learn the forces that make them fly.

Space Exploration:  July 19th from 9am – 3pm
Campers will learn all about our nation’s manned space program, the history and the future of space exploration. We will also explore our neighboring planet, Mars. Campers will design a mission to Mars, build a Mars rover and fly paper rockets!

Water Water Everywhere: August 16th from 9am – 2pm
This is the only camp that will be held at Wings & Waves. Campers will learn all about water. Several experiments will be done, underwater robots will be demonstrated, the hands on museum will be utilized as well. What would a visit to the waterpark be without some waterpark fun? From 2pm-4pm students will have free time in the park (campers will need an adult chaperone to attend)
